Strive Is Running Saylor's Playbook and Has Raised Enough for 638 Bitcoin

Key Takeaways

Strive’s SATA raised an estimated $55M in the week of Oct. 5, 2026, enough for roughly 638 BTC.Strive held 29,462 BTC on Oct. 2, while Strategy sold zero STRC shares from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.Strive and Strategy weekly 8-K filings on Monday should confirm how many BTC the SATA cash bought.

How the 638 BTC Was Acquired

The number comes from a weekly dashboard snapshot which shows three figures for the week so far:

Total SATA volume: $317 million Estimated ATM proceeds: $55 million Estimated bitcoin bought: about 638 BTC

That is an estimate as trackers such as Bitcointreasuries.net’s SATA page only count volume traded at or above the $100 par value. They then apply a capture ratio, calibrated against past SEC filings, to estimate how many new shares Strive sold through its at-the-market (ATM) program. An ATM lets a company sell new shares into the open market a little at a time instead of in one large offering.

And with bitcoin’s price near $82,800 on Friday, 638 BTC is worth roughly $53 million, which lines up with the proceeds estimate.

Two Days Did the Heavy Lifting

Volume above $100 showed up on Monday, Oct. 5, and for most of Tuesday, Oct. 6. From Wednesday through Friday, SATA traded entirely below par, and the estimated issuance went quiet even as daily volume hit some of its highest levels of the week.

That is the built-in brake on this kind of machine. Selling new preferred shares below par would dilute the program’s own promise, so issuance pauses until buyers push the price back up. As a result, the week’s bitcoin bid depended almost entirely on demand for a yield product on two trading days.

The Saylor Template

Michael Saylor’s Strategy built this model with STRC, its variable-rate perpetual preferred stock, which is best described as the engine behind Strategy’s 2026 buying. Strive’s SATA is a smaller copy of the same idea.

This week the copy was busier than the original, at least on the latest filed data. Strategy’s Oct. 5 8-K filing shows it sold zero STRC shares from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. Its 334 BTC purchase over Oct. 1 to Oct. 4 was funded by selling MSTR common stock instead, which lifted its stack to 848,000 BTC.

Where Strive Stands

Strive’s own 8-K from Oct. 5 fills in the rest:

29,462 BTC held as of Oct. 2, after buying 2,000 BTC at an average of about $84,422 between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2. 8,137 BTC added in the third quarter at an average cost of $78,885. A “BTC Yield” of 18.5% quarter-to-date and 63.2% year-to-date as of Sept. 30, the company’s measure of bitcoin per share growth. Zero debt principal, but about $168 million in annualized SATA dividend obligations.

That last line is the trade-off, especially since every SATA share sold funds bitcoin today and adds to a dividend bill tomorrow. The model works as long as investors keep paying par or better, but slows down the moment they don’t.
