Saylor Says Strategy, Strive Can Win Share of $318.5T With Bitcoin – Bitcoin News

Key Takeaways

Saylor places bitcoin finance within a $318.5 trillion market backdrop.Asset gains, cheaper funding, and equity valuations could reinforce growth.Strive’s $50 million STRC purchase illustrates cooperation among rivals.

Saylor Looks Beyond Rivals to Global Capital Markets

Investors could gain more choices as competing bitcoin treasury companies develop income and growth securities, Michael Saylor contends. The founder and executive chairman of Strategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR), a bitcoin treasury company, shared his argument on X Sept. 30. Saylor said: “I want Strive to succeed. I want every well-managed issuer of bitcoin-powered Digital Credit to succeed.”

The opportunity extends into established markets, where even small allocations could represent substantial sums for the category. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) recorded $157.8 trillion in global equity capitalization and $160.7 trillion in fixed-income debt outstanding at year-end 2025. Together, they total $318.5 trillion. Saylor wrote: “One tenth of one percent of either market is roughly $160 billion.”

He added:

“That is the scale against which we should measure our opportunity. Bitcoin treasury equities and bitcoin-powered credit are young categories seeking recognition within much larger markets.”

Saylor distinguishes bitcoin for long-term allocations, preferred stocks for income, and treasury-company common shares for growth capital. He classifies STRC and SATA, issued by Strategy and bitcoin treasury company Strive Inc. (Nasdaq: ASST), respectively, as digital credit. These bitcoin-based income securities prioritize dividends over common shares but do not automatically provide secured claims on bitcoin.

Bitcoin Gains and Cheaper Funding Could Reinforce Growth

Newly financed acquisitions add demand for an asset with constrained issuance, potentially benefiting every company holding it. Bitcoin’s supply limit underpins Saylor’s first growth driver: appreciation that strengthens asset coverage and financing capacity. Individual purchases cannot guarantee higher prices. He stated: “The value created by broader bitcoin adoption can reach every balance sheet built on bitcoin.”

Broader acceptance of preferred-stock products could improve funding terms as investors become familiar with their structures and risks. Saylor’s STRC income model could benefit from analyst coverage, institutional research, trading infrastructure, and distribution. Greater confidence may narrow financing spreads, the extra return demanded above benchmark rates, though changing interest rates could offset savings.

Higher equity valuations could enable capital raising, further acquisitions, or retirement of costly obligations, completing a potentially reinforcing cycle. Strategy’s $152 million STRC repurchase, disclosed Sept. 28, illustrates active balance-sheet management. Growth must exceed funding costs and dilution, which reduces existing shareholders’ proportional ownership. Bitcoin pays no interest, so any margin between asset returns and financing costs depends on uncertain appreciation and disciplined execution.

Strive Shows How Competitors Can Become Customers

Cooperation already extends to investment decisions, with Strive allocating part of its treasury to Strategy’s preferred stock. It disclosed a $50 million purchase of STRC on March 11, representing 500,000 shares. Saylor cites this as evidence that rivals can become customers while maintaining independent management and financing decisions.

The firm’s subsequent expansion illustrates how preferred-stock financing can support accumulation of the same underlying asset held by competitors. Strive disclosed 1,107 additional bitcoin acquired for $94.5 million Sept. 28, bringing holdings to 27,462 bitcoin. CEO Matt Cole attributed 85% of total capital raised, including warrant proceeds, to SATA.

Saylor compares complementary businesses to Ford and the oil industry, extending his ecosystem to payments and derivatives, financial contracts for managing risk. Multiple issuers could accommodate institutional exposure limits, though diversification preserves common bitcoin risk. Weak operators can damage confidence, while falling prices, wider spreads, and lower valuations can reinforce losses. He identifies sound capitalization, prudent liquidity, and transparent disclosures as conditions for responsible growth.

The Strategy executive chairman concluded:

“When we build on bitcoin, we have an interest in one another’s success. Let’s build the industry together.”
