Palantir is trading at $187.89 with momentum stalling just below the $190.21 resistance wall, while a 93% Q2 revenue surge and aggressive AIP expansion argue the next leg higher targets $197–$207. …

The $190 Wall and the AI Catalyst Behind It

Palantir is sitting right at an inflection point. At $187.89, the stock is trapped in a narrow corridor — $185.69 immediate support below, $190.21 immediate resistance above — and the 24-hour price action of -0.20% says buyers and sellers are locked in a standoff. The intraday range of $185.81 to $190.33 tells you the market tested both sides and couldn’t commit. That kind of coiled indecision, right below a key resistance cluster, usually resolves violently in one direction.

The fundamental catalyst doing the heavy lifting here is real and significant. In Q2 2026, Palantir printed $1.94 billion in quarterly revenue — a 92.8% year-over-year surge — and beat the consensus EPS estimate of $0.34 by delivering $0.41. The company has now raised its full-year 2026 revenue forecast to between $8.15 billion and $8.158 billion. That’s not incremental improvement; that’s a company in a different growth bracket entirely. CEO Alex Karp has spent September adding xAI’s Grok 4.7, OpenAI’s GPT-6 model suite, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Google’s Gemini 3.8 Flash, and models from Z.ai and Moonshot AI directly into the AIP platform. The strategic play is obvious: Palantir doesn’t need to win the AI model war because it’s building the layer that sits above all of them. Traders who follow these developments closely are keeping tabs on coverage at Blockchain.news as institutional sentiment around AI infrastructure plays continues to evolve.

The U.S. Army’s September 17 delivery order — $48.1 million for ammunition-management software replacing nine legacy systems — is also not noise. It’s evidence that Palantir’s government revenue engine remains active even as commercial growth accelerates. This is a company generating momentum on both verticals simultaneously.

Technical Structure: Momentum Hesitating, But the Trend Is Unbroken

The moving average stack is still bullish. Price sits comfortably above the 7-day SMA at $189.79 (barely), the 20-day SMA at $179.56, the 50-day at $178.03, and well above the 200-day at $147.93. That ascending layering of averages beneath price is the backbone of a genuine uptrend — there’s no ambiguity there. The EMA 12 at $185.64 and EMA 26 at $181.06 are both in positive alignment, and price has held above the faster average.

Where it gets complicated is the momentum picture. The MACD histogram has flatlined at zero, meaning the bullish impulse that carried this stock up from the 200-day has completely exhausted itself near the $190 zone. RSI at 61.98 is constructive — not overbought, not capitulating — but it’s not screaming aggressive momentum either. The Stochastic %K at 73.47 has also pushed into elevated territory while the slower %D at 58.77 hasn’t caught up yet, a near-term divergence that historically signals a brief pause or shallow pullback before the next directional move.

Bollinger Band positioning at 0.73 tells the cleaner story: the stock is trading in the upper portion of its volatility range with the upper band at $197.62 acting as a magnetic target but also an overhead cap. Strong support at $183.49 and strong resistance at $192.53 define the battle zone. The taker buy/sell ratio of 1.47 — aggressive buyers dominating the order flow — confirms that institutional money isn’t walking away from this setup. The open interest increase of 4.93% over 24 hours with retail positioned heavily short at 56.4% creates a classic squeeze setup if $190.21 gives way on meaningful volume.

Wall Street’s Valuation Dilemma: 160x P/E and Still Getting Buy Ratings

Here’s where the debate gets serious. Palantir carries a trailing P/E of 160x and a forward P/E of approximately 101–146x depending on the earnings model you use. The market cap sits at $450 billion on trailing twelve-month revenue of $6.16 billion — a price-to-sales ratio north of 100x. By any classical valuation framework, PLTR is one of the most expensive growth stocks in the technology sector, where the average P/E is roughly 79x. It trades at double even that elevated peer benchmark.

And yet, 36 Wall Street analysts covering the stock are sitting at a Moderate Buy consensus, with 21 buy ratings, 2 strong buys, 10 holds, and only 3 sells. The average price target is $195.33, the median is around $192–$195, the high is $255 (from aggressive bulls), and the low is $80 from the skeptics who see valuation mean-reversion as the dominant risk. Goldman Sachs reiterated a Neutral at $204 on September 28, a nuanced position — they’re not short it, but they’re not chasing it here. Rosenblatt’s John McPeake reaffirmed Buy with a $225 target on September 23, citing the FAA’s AI modernization rollout as a catalyst that could expand an existing government relationship from an $18 million contract into something structurally larger.

The bull case for the valuation is straightforward: if Palantir executes on its $8.15 billion 2026 revenue guide, the forward P/S compresses dramatically, and any acceleration in net income margins — which already generated $3.02 billion TTM — brings the earnings multiple down toward something more digestible. The bear case is equally simple: at 160x trailing earnings, there is zero margin for execution error. A guidance miss heading into the November 2 earnings date would be punished severely. Blockchain.news has been tracking the broader institutional positioning in AI-adjacent equities as the sector reassesses forward multiples post-rate cycle.

Forward Scenarios: Bull and Bear Price Paths for the Next 30 Days

The setup into November 2 earnings is a binary tension: strong AI enterprise momentum versus a valuation multiple that assumes near-perfection.

Bull Scenario (55% probability): The retail short crowd at 56.4% provides the fuel. If PLTR clears $190.21 on volume above its 43-million-share daily average, the next technical target is the Bollinger upper band at $197.62, and beyond that, the Goldman target of $204 becomes the natural magnet. The November earnings catalyst — if Q3 revenue sustains even 70–80% growth on a harder comparable — could push the stock toward the $205–$215 range within 30 days. Aggressive buyers should look for entries on any dip to the $183.49–$185.69 support zone, with a stop-loss below $181 (just beneath the EMA 26). First target: $197. Second target: $207.

Bear Scenario (45% probability): If the MACD histogram’s flatline turns negative and price loses $185.69 on a closing basis, the next real support is the 20-day SMA at $179.56. A clean break below $183.49 strong support triggers a technical sell-off targeting the $173–$175 zone, where prior consolidation occurred. At a 160x P/E with slowing options premium, any macro headwind or guidance nuance in the November print could accelerate that move fast. The $80 analyst low target, while extreme, underscores how wide the valuation dispersion has become.

The asymmetric play here is clear: the risk-reward favors the bull side as long as $183.49 holds, but position sizing matters enormously into a November earnings binary. Palantir’s AIP model-agnostic strategy is the right long-term infrastructure bet — the short-term question is whether a 160x multiple has already priced the next 18 months of good news.
