The launch addresses a fundamental operational barrier in emerging markets: the inability to directly spend digital dollar balances on everyday purchases. While stablecoin adoption has expanded rapidly across developing economies, asset holders historically faced friction converting digital balances into physical tender for daily commerce. OrbitX’s new feature bridges this gap, allowing individuals to load stablecoins and complete transactions at street vendors, transit systems, pharmacies, and retail establishments without holding a local bank account or visiting physical foreign exchange venues.

With the addition of QR capability, OrbitX now offers a complete end-to-end financial suite built on self-custodial stablecoin infrastructure. The platform enables users to manage the entire lifecycle of capital—holding, spending, transferring, and point-of-sale purchasing—within a unified environment:

Hold: Users maintain named multi-currency virtual accounts across major fiat denominations—including USD, EUR, GBP, AED, NGN, BRL, and MXN—backed by self-custodial wallets where account holders retain full possession of their private keys to stablecoin holdings.

Spend: Customers access physical and virtual Visa payment cards accepted across 15M+ merchants globally.

Send: The platform facilitates real-time international payouts to more than 80 countries, replacing legacy multi-day clearing processes.

Scan and Pay: Direct point-of-sale transactions completed via rapid conversion of stablecoin balances into local currencies (such as Vietnamese dong or Philippine pesos).

Beyond retail utility, the platform targets substantial structural inefficiencies in global business payments. Companies and remote workers operating in developing markets frequently face foreign exchange markups ranging from 3 to 5 percent from traditional banking institutions when paying for foreign software subscriptions, cloud hosting, advertising platforms, and vendor invoices priced in U.S. dollars. For an enterprise allocating $15,000 monthly toward dollar-denominated operational expenses, traditional bank FX spreads represent an annual loss of $5,400 to $9,000. OrbitX bypasses correspondent banking networks through stablecoin rails, delivering rapid settlement and reducing conversion spreads.

“Digital dollar adoption in emerging economies has historically been constrained by spending limitations at physical cash registers,” said Ankitt Gaur, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OrbitX. “By enabling QR-based conversion of stablecoin balances into local payment rails, we are transforming static holdings into an active medium of local exchange. Whether paying a local transportation provider or settling a neighborhood retail transaction, users can now deploy their digital assets rapidly without intermediary bank delays.”

Gaur added regarding operational efficiency: “International enterprises and independent professionals in emerging economies should not be penalized simply for operating outside traditional money centers. Operating on self-custodial stablecoin architecture provides startups in emerging markets with financial velocity and fee structures comparable to enterprises in major global hubs.”

Availability

The QR payment feature is active today in Vietnam and the Philippines, with subsequent regional deployments scheduled over the coming weeks. Individual accounts can be established immediately, while corporate accounts require 3 to 4 days for onboarding. Platform access, virtual account creation, and API documentation are available via the official web portal at orbitxpay.com.
