Franklin Templeton Joins Canton Network As Validator

Franklin Templeton, one of the world’s largest asset managers with more than $1.5 trillion in assets under management, has joined the Canton Network as a Super Validator. The move comes after the company expanded its Benji Technology Platform to Canton Network in late 2025, adding another step to its growing focus on tokenized financial products.

What Franklin Templeton’s New Role Means

Canton Network is a privacy-focused Layer-1 blockchain built for financial institutions handling tokenized assets. As a Super Validator, Franklin Templeton will help secure the network, validate transactions, and participate in governance.

The company joins an infrastructure group that already includes major organizations such as Visa, Chainlink, DTCC, Nasdaq, and Blockdaemon. Rather than simply using the network, these firms now help operate it, showing deeper institutional participation.

Institutional Adoption Continues to Grow

According to a recent Canton Network report, the ecosystem now includes:

Tokenmetrics

Over 1,200 validators and 45+ Super Validators$57.29 million in network fees generated over the last 30 days, the highest among blockchain networksBroadridge’s Distributed Ledger Repo (DLR) platform processing nearly $8 trillion in monthly repo volume, up 508% year-over-yearActive participation from DTCC, Euroclear, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Kinexys, HSBC, and BlackRock’s BUIDL fund

The report also noted that network economics are gradually improving, with approximately 0.65 billion CC tokens minted per month compared to 0.5 billion tokens burned, narrowing the gap between issuance and token burns ahead of the next halving.

Meanwhile, Santiment reported that Chainlink recorded 1.26 million LINK in net exchange outflows over the past 24 hours, the largest daily outflow since June 29.

According to the analytics platform, declining exchange balances reduce the number of tokens readily available for selling, potentially lowering near-term sell pressure. The update also comes after DTCC processed tokenized U.S. securities trades in July with Chainlink listed among the technology providers, while its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) expanded support across institutional networks, including Canton Network and Robinhood Chain, adding further momentum to Chainlink’s growing role in institutional blockchain infrastructure.

Growing Tokenization Strategy

Franklin Templeton has been one of the earliest traditional finance firms exploring tokenization through its Benji Platform, which introduced one of the first tokenized money market funds in the United States.

By operating as a Super Validator, the company gains a larger role in the infrastructure supporting tokenized assets, settlement, and institutional blockchain applications.

Some Challenges Still Remain

The report also pointed to areas that investors continue monitoring. A large share of network rewards currently comes from only a few applications, while secondary market liquidity for the CC token remains relatively limited despite growing institutional activity. At the same time, ecosystem grant funding has steadily declined in recent months, reflecting a gradual shift from incentive-driven growth toward broader commercial adoption.
