Former President Donald Trump took to his X handle and made a major yet confusing announcement. He shared a video and revealed that he will soon lay out a plan to make the United States the ‘crypto capital of the planet.’
At the July Bitcoin 2024 conference, Trump reinforced his pro-Bitcoin stance, promising to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve and remove SEC chair Gary Gensler. Despite the uncertain race between Trump and Kamala Harris, the crypto community seems to lean toward Trump and his policies.
In his X post, Trump shared a video with excerpts from his recent speech. He said “This afternoon, I’m laying out my plan to ensure that the United States will be the crypto capital of the planet. They want to choke you. They want to choke you out of business. We’re not going to let that happen.” He also tagged the account ‘World LibertyFi’ in his post.
Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump also previously teased X users about this announcement. Eric wrote, “Excited to announce the launch of @WorldLibertyFi! A new era in finance is here.”
However, shortly before Trump’s announcement on X, World Liberty Financial’s Telegram channel issued a warning. They wrote, “We have been made aware of some ads circulating on Telegram claiming to be from us, offering fake airdrops or token sales,” it said. “We are not doing any airdrops or selling any tokens at this time.”
Trump had previously vowed to fire Gary Gensler. He had said, “I will fire Gary Gensler and appoint a new SEC Chair on day one. The moment I’m sworn in, the persecution stops and the weaponization ends against your industry. I will appoint new SEC chair who believes America should build the future not block.”
