This highly anticipated event marks their first public encounter on stage following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race in July, a decision many believe stemmed from his previous debate performance against Trump.
Harris opened up about giving a $50,000 tax deduction to start up small businesses and said, “I was raised as a middle class kid, and I am actually the only person on this stage who has a plan that is about lifting up the middle class and working people of America.”
While Trump stressed that his economy was great, Harris immediately said, ‘Donald Trump has no plan for you and he left the worst attack on our democracy since the civil war.’

That bill would have allowed resources to prosecute those for trafficking guns and drugs and human beings. You know what happened to the bill? Donald Trump got on the phone, called up folks in Congress and said, ‘kill the bill’.”
