“We need to understand that there could be banking sanctions. You need to prepare an alternative economic system, and you know what that is, and you know which currencies can bypass this, and I’m working on that as well,” Netanyahu said, according to The Jerusalem Post.
When asked specifically whether blockchain technology could provide an alternative to conventional financial channels, Netanyahu confirmed that it was among the options being considered.
“One of them. Certainly. And I’ve already asked for a plan to be prepared for that,” he said.
The prime minister did not specify which cryptocurrencies or blockchain networks might be involved, which government agencies would oversee the initiative, or when such a system could be implemented.
The proposal raises the prospect of Israel turning to decentralized financial infrastructure to maintain international transactions if traditional banking channels become restricted.

According to a database maintained by the Jewish People Policy Institute, the United States accounts for 15 recorded measures targeting Israel, followed by Spain with 10, the United Kingdom with eight, Turkey with seven, and Belgium with five. The figures include a broad range of actions, including proposed legislative measures and institutional boycotts, rather than exclusively financial sanctions.
Netanyahu also warned that Israel should prepare for an eventual end to American military assistance, arguing that the country could no longer assume continued access to tens of billions of dollars in U.S. defense funding.
