What to Test Before You Pay

What to Test Before You Pay

Free trials let traders practise prop firm rules before paying.
HyroTrader’s evaluation has profit and loss limits to manage.
A trial can help traders identify costly mistakes before paying.

Funded trading rests on a simple promise: prove you can trade by passing a test, and a firm gives you its capital to trade with.

The test is called an evaluation or a challenge, and entering one costs money.

That creates an obvious question for anyone new to the model. How do you know whether the test suits you before you pay for it?

okex

A free trial answers it: a practice version of the firm’s evaluation, run on a demo account under the same rules, at no cost.

A prop firm test, in plain terms

A proprietary trading firm, prop firm for short, stakes traders with the firm’s own capital.

To qualify, a trader passes an evaluation: trade a demo account to a profit target while staying inside loss limits.

At HyroTrader, a crypto prop firm, the one-step evaluation sets a 10 percent profit target.

Funded traders keep 80 percent of their profits at the start, and the split can grow to 90 percent over time, on accounts of up to 200,000 USDT, a dollar-pegged token.

The catch is that the evaluation is paid. Entry runs from $59 for the smallest account to $969 for the largest, so a failed attempt has a real price.

If crypto trading itself is new to you, CoinJournal’s guide on how to trade cryptocurrency covers orders and risk controls from the beginning.

What a free trial is, and what it is not

A free trial is the same evaluation run as practice. HyroTrader’s free trial needs no credit card, runs on demo accounts up to a 200,000 USDT size, and holds you to the same trading rules as the paid version, with one active demo account per trader.

The limits matter just as much. Completing a trial does not qualify you for a funded account, and trial profits cannot be withdrawn.

The trial exists for preparation: a way to meet the rules before they can cost you anything.

The pass rates make the case for testing first

Most evaluation attempts fail. HyroTrader publishes its challenge pass rates on a live dashboard, and as of September 2026 they stand at 13.49 percent for the one-step challenge and 8.70 percent for the two-step.

The firm also reports that traders who start with the free trial show a 30 percent higher success rate once funded.

Those numbers change how a trial should be read. It is not a marketing preview. It is the inexpensive way to find the rule that would have ended a paid attempt.

What to test while the trial runs

A trial is most useful as a rules rehearsal, not a profit run.

Watch the daily loss limit first: at HyroTrader it is 4 percent of starting capital on the one-step model and 5 percent on the two-step, it counts open losses and fees, it resets daily at UTC time, and the same limit continues on funded accounts.

The total loss limit is 6 percent in both models.

Learn what counts as a trading day too. Only a day with a closed trade above minimum size and movement thresholds counts toward the five required trading days, and those days do not need to be consecutive.

Then rehearse the quiet parts. Practice position sizes that survive a losing streak, build the habit of stopping when the daily limit is near, and read the payout terms while nothing is at stake: payouts are available on demand and typically process within 12 to 24 hours, with the firm’s on-chain payout records showing an average around ten and a half hours as of September 2026.

After the trial, the deposit question

When you do pay, the entry payment at HyroTrader is a Refundable Challenge Deposit.

Complete the evaluation and become eligible for the first profit split, and the deposit returns as a separate crypto payment in the same payout cycle; a challenge that has not been activated can be cancelled with the deposit returned.

Passing brings a funded trader certificate and the funded account itself, and there is no time limit in either the evaluation or the funded phase.

A sensible order of operations

The order that protects your money is plain. Run the free trial until the rules feel routine, note which rule you came closest to breaking, and only then choose an account size and pay the deposit.

The evaluation will still be demanding, but nothing in it should be a surprise.

Figures come from HyroTrader’s published terms and its live transparency dashboard as of September 2026; check the current numbers before purchasing an evaluation. Trading crypto derivatives carries a high risk of loss.
