Binance Maintains Leadership, Registers Record Inflows In August
As one of the better months in a long time for the crypto market comes to an end, centralized exchanges are reaping the benefits of the revival of the crypto market.
Binance, the largest exchange by volumes traded, was one of the platforms favored as interest in crypto assets picked up during August.
According to Binance Research, the investigative arm of the exchange, Binance showed its strength in the crypto industry, receiving a large portion of the inflows from users who leveraged its services to bet on the rise in the valuation of bitcoin and other financial instruments in international markets.
Binance registered liquidity inflows of $15.7 billion in August, a record number that piggybacked on the growth of bitcoin prices, which rose over 20%, rocketing past the $80K key level.
The figures show the exchange maintains its leadership among its peers, gathering over 75% of all centralized exchange flows. Binance Research stressed that the $15.7 billion represented around 8.4x of the second-largest positive inflow, with Bybit and OKX locking in as the three exchanges where liquidity is concentrated.
“Smaller venues, by contrast, saw more mixed and fragmented flows,” Binance Research concluded.
Binance maintained its liquidity resilience even in July, when several exchanges wound down operations, as one of the few venues registering positive month-to-date inflows.
These positive results come as Binance and other exchanges have been taking action to become more than just crypto venues, incorporating commodities and stocks into their portfolios to become sort of “Swiss knife” apps for investing, allowing users to trade everything under one platform.
Nonetheless, not all was positive for the exchange during August, as it faced allegations of onboarding customers in the EU even after failing to secure a Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) license.
